Remarkable that a thing can get in the way and get one on the way. Human beings are distinguished by our ability to hold two apparently contradictory thoughts in one body, one instance. This speaks to that. Thank you.

I like your LAST line and appreciate the nuance because I often think emotions are disparaged and feel pressure (as an emotional female) to remain rational, male, and detached, like Spock. I believe emotions get us “ON our way,” and we have to work on our relationship with emotions, just as we do with people- setting firm boundaries with them, while respecting their perspective, dignity, and integrity. I am grateful to finally have emotions after years of spiritual bypassing and suppression, which made me a great leader- but kept me numb and ultimately, depressed.

Hey Sol, this was a beautiful poem! Emotional intelligence to me is the next evolution of self-awareness and that’s something I’m trying to work on each day. It certainly helps when it comes to leadership! It’s all about staying calm and composed when under pressure. Thank you so much for posting this! Your newsletter is awesome by the way! Just subscribed! :)
